He’s the superintendent of renewals schools. Renewal schools and the program itself are a hot mess. What else can we say? What does it say about his leadership?

What are you taking about? He’s done a fine job with Flushing HS.

And by fine, I mean he’s horrible. You call that supporting a struggling school?

Mike Alcoff is completely uninvolved in the schools he is the superintendent of. He is the renewal school superintendent. His boss is Aimee Horowitz who is also a huge problem for the NYC DOE. Flushing High School is one of his school and it is an absolute disaster. He is very much part of the problem. He exerts no control over Principal Chin who has allegedly changed grades and ended the school newspaper (documented in the NY Post many times) with his autocratic control over students and teachers alike. In the 2016-2017 school year there were 6 3020a charges against teachers in the building (education law to remove a tenured teacher through a proceeding) 5 of them were him forcing old teachers out who he or his assistant principals wrote up with unwarranted ineffective ratings. Countless other teachers retired early to leave this hot mess of a school because they were either targeted or had downgraded ratings. Other teachers who stood up against the corruption without tenure were targeted for discontinuance and also rated negatively after whistle blowing fraud (even without diciplinary records).
